Overview

This second level workshop is for participants with a specific idea of what they want to write, and have at least 1000 (max. 1500) words already written in the form of a draft, or concept note, or character descriptions,  or an outline for a book or a series of articles, a set of stories, a novel…

Participants will pre-send this material to Living Bridge*. In the workshop, each participant will decide how much they will grow or expand their material over the course of the workshop. The mentor will help you think through and take your material forward, flesh it out, either as a complete piece or a substantial part of a larger piece of writing.

Please keep yourself relatively free of commitments for the first day, even after the workshop timings, as there will be ‘homework’ for the next day’s session.

The group will be smaller than the Basics of Creative Writing Workshop (Step 1), of just 10 people, as we will work intensively on each person’s material.

The workshop will be held from 10:00 to 13:00 over two weekends.

*Instructions for submission will be given to you immediately after you register.

Creative Writing 2 Intermediate

SYLLABUS

At the workshop participants will be guided to:

  • Discover and detail the core-central theme of your work
  • Learn about characterization in the show-not-tell mode
  • Form a structure/plot/argument which can be later fleshed out
  • Edit and evaluate your own work
  • Study the use of dialogue in fiction writing and human-interest additions in non-fiction
  • Learn how to write a detailed proposal to a publisher or a publishing agent

At the end of the workshop, participants will have a better grip on their material, the direction in which they want to take it further, and a momentum to their writing practice.
